Legend: Somebody asked Pythagoras "What is a friend?"
He answered:"That which is my other self". When his questioner expressed his puzzlement, he explained: "That which is my other self, as 220 is to 284."
And what are 220 and 284 to one another? They share a strong bond in relation to their divisibility: the sum of the divisors of one is equal to the other.
This defines them as two amicable numbers.
The pair cited by Pythagoras forms the smallest pair of number "friends": the divisors of 220, not including itself, are 1,2,4,5,10,11,20,22,44,55,110 for a total of 284. The divisors of 284 - 1,2,4,71,142 - form a total of...none other than 220.

220 & 284; the symbol of friendship. We tried to create a choreographic piece based on this idea. Marianna and Angeliki - friends in life :) - worked on a duet inspired from amicable numbers. This duet was processed and changed in many ways before taking its final structure.
